There are claims that Ice Spice and her producer have stolen songs.
The 24-year-old singer is being sued by D.Chamberz, an artist, for allegedly breaking copyright with her song “In Ha Mood,” according to TMZ.
According to Chamberz, Ice’s January 2022 song “In That Mood” is plagiarized in the recording.
The magazine reported legal records which claimed that Ice, real name Isis Naija Gaston, copied his song “in terms of the beat, lyrics, hook, rhythmic structure, metrical placement, and story context.”
The rapper also says that “a full year prior” to Ice Spice’s single’s release, he wrote and recorded the song.
Additionally, Chamberz brought up her producer Riot, since rumour has it that In That Mood was played “dozens of times” at various places.
D. Chamberz also asked for “damages, other income, and at least half of the song’s publishing rights” in his complaint.
As of May 2023, Ice Spice’s song “In Ha Mood” had received over 168 million Spotify plays and over 46 million YouTube views, according to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
The charge was made in response to Ice Spice’s announcement that she would be headlining two weekends in April at the 2024 Coachella festival.
