The abandonment of several police roadblocks in the Sadiqabad area has been linked to an increase in kidnappings for ransom and other criminal activity.
According to police sources, there are more than fifty checkpoints in the dry and thinly populated Kuccha area that are unmanned out of concern about bandits.
It has been alleged that after multiple police officers were killed, the surviving staff refused to stay on duty at these dangerous places.
The consequent lack of police presence has given criminals more confidence and made it simpler for them to enter more populous areas from the Kacha area. These checkpoints and observation stations (OPs), which cost millions of rupees to set up, are now abandoned.
