Following Iran’s missile assault on Israel earlier this month, officials say the Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense (Thaad) battery will strengthen Israeli air defenses.
Israel is still anticipated to retaliate against an Iranian strike that involved more than 180 ballistic missiles fired at Israel on October 1st, despite President Joe Biden’s declaration that it is intended “to defend Israel.”
Since the plan entails placing American boots on the ground in Israel, it has gained attention.
Although there aren’t many US military in the nation already, this additional deployment of perhaps 100 troops is noteworthy since it represents more US involvement in the growing regional.
As the crisis worsens, it is also being searched for hints regarding the significance of Israel’s missile defenses.
“Lethal, precise, and above all, surprising” is how Defense Minister Yoav Gallant described Israel’s response to Iran’s attack, which has not yet been launched.
Tehran said it fired on Israel for killing Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah, which Iran supports, in Beirut.
