Indianapolis reports that Andrew Baldwin, Allen’s lawyer, first revealed the information during “mini opening statements” prior to Carroll County jury selection.
Allen’s attorneys requested that the case be relocated from neighboring Allen County to Carroll County in order to transport potential jurors. They did this out of concern that Carroll County citizens might not be impartial because of the case’s widespread national and local publicity.
“It seems like yesterday that Liberty and Abigail were first reported missing,” said news correspondent Alexis McAdams, who covered the case locally when it broke.
