Concerns regarding the way a case involving the purported rape of a 14-year-old girl by a 58-year-old policeman in Sargodha is being handled have been voiced by the Punjab prosecutor general.
The case has been deemed “high-profile” by Prosecutor General Faryad Ali Shah, who has officially written to the chief judge of the Lahore High Court denouncing the purported offer of a local magistrate for the juvenile victim to wed the suspect in an attempt to bring them together.
The troubling information surfaced after the prosecutor general office revealed that the victim had been coerced by the local magistrate to marry the guy who was suspected of raping her under the guise of promoting reconciliation.
General Shah, the Punjab Prosecutor, called the investigative team to his office and requested all investigation-related paperwork.
