Hundreds of students and miscreants from Punjab’s cities were detained by Punjab Police on Thursday. They were apparently protesting against the unsubstantiated and alleged rape cases of female students on campus by damaging private college campuses throughout the state, including the capital Lahore.
Following an alleged rape of a private college student, Lahore was the epicenter of protests, with students and “miscreants” destroying property, setting motorcycles on fire, and fighting with police.
Sub-inspector Usman Akbar filed a case at the Harbanspura police station, and Lahore Police arrested it on the grounds that 200–250 unidentified people were involved.
Six motorcycles were set on fire and considerable damage was done to the campus as a result of the protesters’ use of petrol bombs against the police, as per the FIR.
