KARACHI: In a notice released on Friday, the Karachi administration decided to extend the implementation of Section 144 by two more days, till October 19.
With authority granted by the Sindh Home Department, Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi declared an outright ban on all forms of protests, demonstrations, sit-ins, rallies, and gatherings of more than five people in the city.
According to a notice released by the Karachi Commissioner Office, the additional inspector general (AIG) of Karachi requested that gatherings be prohibited.
According to the commissioner’s office, the station house officers (SHOs) at the relevant police stations have the authority to file complaints regarding Section 144 violations on the specified days.
Previously, starting in October, Section 144 was enforced for five days.
