Defense Minister Khawaja Asif stated on Thursday that former prime minister Imran Khan, who is currently in jail, ought to face trial in a military court.
“I was charged under Article 6 [high treason] during his [Imran Khan] tenure, and he should also go through a military trial,” he stated during an appearance on the Aaj News program News Insight with Amir Zia. “He didn’t come down from above.”
Asif has stated this multiple times before. He discussed it in an interview with a private station last month. He did not, however, go into further detail about the evidence against the former prime minister.
The army warned that exploiting military troops for political or personal advantage draws legal action and alluded to a military trial for Khan on September 5.
