Due to poor health, the 79-year-old host revealed earlier this month that he was leaving radio after 58 years.
Walker stated during his farewell show on Sunday that he would not be accepting any requests this time around and that he would choose all of the songs himself, saying, “I’m playing all the ones I love.”
Walker concluded his final show with a heartfelt message from Sir Rod Stewart and his wife Tiggy, before wishing the audience “may we walk into the future with our heads held high and happiness in our hearts.”
Although Walker has nearly 60 years of British radio experience, he started hosting Sounds of the Seventies in 2009.
Walker dedicated his second song, Sister Sledge’s We Are Family, to his audience after opening his final performance with George Harrison’s “What Is Life.”
His former co-presenter Sally Boazman joined Walker on air and remarked that having him as a colleague was the “best luck” of her life.
