Due to dangerous air quality brought on by haze from Delhi, Amritsar, and Chandigarh, the Punjab government has issued an emergency notice for people living in Lahore.
Since strong winds bring in pollution from other areas, Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has advised residents to exercise caution by wearing masks and keeping doors and windows locked.
According to Minister Aurangzeb, Lahore’s air quality index (AQI) significantly improved from 800 to 191 yesterday as the winds weakened.
She did stress, though, that people with heart and respiratory disorders and children should not go outside.
The environment minister pointed out that one factor contributing to the elevated pollution levels in Indian regions is the burning of crop waste.
She restated that Lahore’s already dire situation is made worse by the high winds, which have a major impact on the city’s air quality.
