The spectacular Leonid meteor shower, which will be active from November 3 to December 2 this year and peak overnight from November 16 to 17, will once again be visible to humans.
The Leonids are created when Earth travels through the debris that comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle left behind. According to Space, it occurs every 33 years during its extremely eccentric orbit around the Sun.
It is important to note that, according to NASA, the Leonids are among the fastest meteors, soaring through the sky at 44 miles per second (71 kilometers per second).
Additionally, they can produce long, vivid, and colorful meteor streaks in the form of spectacular fireballs.
The Moon will be nearly completely illuminated on the day of Leonid’s zenith.
