Japan’s weather agency claimed that although November is only a few days away, Mount Fuji is still snow-free, the most recent time its beautiful slopes have been bare since records began 130 years ago.
Last year, snow was first seen atop the volcano on October 5; on normal, the snowcap starts to form on October 2.
However, Yutaka Katsuta, a forecaster at the Kofu Local Meteorological Office, stated that no snowfall has yet been seen on Japan’s tallest mountain this year due to the warm weather.
According to him, that surpasses the previous record of October 26—which was set twice, in 1955 and 2016, and is the latest date since comparison data began available in 1894.
