In order to assess the status of work at important project locations, such as the powerhouse and tech tunnel, the WAPDA chairman traveled to the Tarbela fifth expansion project.
The chairman was given a thorough briefing by officials, who explained that work is now being done on six major project sites concurrently with the installation of equipment for the powerhouse’s three production units.
The expansion project, which is expected to be finished by 2025–2026, will significantly increase Tarbela’s production capacity by 1,530 MW and is an essential component of WAPDA’s environmentally friendly low-cost power generation program.
When the Tarbela hydropower complex is finished, its total capacity will be 6,418 MW, enhancing Pakistan’s renewable energy supplies.
