Following a conversation with American envoy Amos Hochstein, Najib Mikati made the remarks.
According to Israeli television Kan, the US drafted the agreement on October 26 and stated that Israel would withdraw within a week of the truce’s commencement.
According to reports, it would contain Israel’s “right to act in self-defence” against immediate threats and would extend for the first sixty days.
The envoy “suggested to me that we could reach an agreement before the end of the month and before 5 November” (the date of the US election), Mr. Mikati told Lebanon’s TV channel.
We are making every effort, and we should not lose hope that a ceasefire can be reached in the next few hours or days,” Mr. Mikati stated.
But the White House advised prudence.
There are “many reports and drafts circulating” that “do not reflect the current state of negotiations,” according to national security spokesperson Sean Savett.
Hezbollah and Israel did not immediately respond to the reports.
