On the night Donald Trump won the president, Delaware sent Sarah McBride to Congress. McBride was a seasoned and successful state lawmaker who campaigned on a platform of state needs and concerns as well as budgetary worries. She prevailed by a landslide victory of over 15%. Voters sent her to Washington to advocate on their behalf after noticing her abilities, experience, and laid-back demeanor.
Even before she is sworn in as a member of Congress, Rep.-elect McBride is already facing obstacles from many of her potential Republican colleagues. They have already gone so far as to use their congressional time to dictate which restroom she is permitted to use.
