As the two nations held high-level strategic talks on Sunday, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un informed Russia’s top diplomat that his nation was prepared to “unconditionally support” any steps Moscow took to end the crisis in Ukraine, according to state media.
North Korea, which has supplied troops and weapons for Russia’s war with Ukraine and promised additional military help as Moscow seeks to advance in the fight, is hosting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov for a three-day visit.
In their second strategic meeting, Kim and Lavrov met in the eastern seaside city of Wonsan, where the foreign ministers of the two nations pledged to continue their cooperation under a partnership treaty that was agreed last year and contains a mutual defense pact.
