The rights to Julianna Baggott’s high-concept short fiction Baggage Claim have been purchased by Fifth Season and Wondermind, a media company dedicated to mental health and owned by Selena Gomez.
The script will be written by Yvonne Hanna Yi (Mr. & Mrs. Smith), which is Wondermind’s first time producing scripted entertainment.
Mandy Teefay, Selena Gomez, and Jonathan Glucksman, co-founders of Wondermind, will serve as creative leaders for the project, according to Deadline.
Although Selena Gomez, who won praise for her role in Emilia Perez, is not confirmed to be performing in the movie, she is participating as a producer.
Baggage Claim also centers on Bethany, a bored thirtysomething who works at a special baggage claim office where memories that are kept as fragrances in vials can be retrieved following an expensive piece of mental surgery.
