ISLAMABAD Following their release from an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Islamabad earlier today, over 40 Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) employees were arrested again by police on the court grounds.
Police detained the PTI employees in relation to a vandalism and arson charge involving the PTI’s demonstration in Islamabad on November 24.
The suspects were previously brought before ATC Judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain for identification late at night, which caused the judge to voice disapproval of the timing.
Ansar Kiyani, the defense attorney, contended that police had taken innocent employees from their homes in order to fulfill quotas. Citing the suspects’ inability to finish identification processes after their detention on November 25, the investigating officer asked for a 30-day remand.
Judge Zulqarnain mandated the removal of the handcuffs on the suspects.
