Rana Sanaullah, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s adviser on political affairs, stated on Wednesday that the government will continue to consult with the establishment when it speaks with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In response to a question on whether the government has the authority to negotiate with the Imran Khan-founded party, the senior leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stated that negotiations with the PTI would require the party chairman Nawaz Sharif’s assent.
“Likewise, whatever PTI decides [in talks with government] will be subject to the approval of PTI founder,” Sanaullah continued while speaking on the news program “Aaj Khanzada Kay Sath.”
The comments are made in light of the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the PTI-government dialogue.
