ISLAMABAD: After the government and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) resolved all disagreements about the controversial Societies Registration (Amendment) Bill 2024, which addresses the registration of madrassas, the federal cabinet approved changes to the bill on Friday.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that the conference adopted changes to the Societies Registration Act 1860 based on suggestions from the law ministry.
Two days prior, JUI-F Senator Kamran Murtaza declared that all disagreements between his party and the administration about the madrassa registration bill had been settled.
According to the senator, “a gazette notification of the madrasa registration act passed in light of the 26th Constitutional Amendment is likely to be issued in the next two days,” he told the news.
