QUETTA: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated Thursday evening that rescue officials had discovered one additional body, bringing the total number of fatalities from a coal mine collapse in Quetta’s Sanjidi district to four.
The authority added that efforts were being made to rescue the eight workers who were still trapped in the collapsed mine.
About 40 kilometers separate Quetta and the mine.
The PDMA reports that debris has been cleared from the impacted coal mine’s access site.
According to Asghar Jamali, the deputy director of rescue, the miners are stuck at a depth of 4,000 feet, according to The News.
He said that debris had descended to a depth of 20 to 30 feet into the mine.
Rescue crews were sent out right away.
