Nearly half of the 20,000 Pakistani nationals detained abroad are being held in Saudi Arabia for a variety of offenses, the National Assembly session was told on Wednesday.
During the question break, Dar, who is also the deputy prime minister, gave information about Pakistani prisoners. “The number of Pakistanis detained in Saudi Arabia for various crimes stands at 10,279,” he said.
At least 19,997 Pakistanis are detained in foreign prisons, according to figures from the foreign ministry.
Speaking about the repatriation procedure, Dar stated that Pakistani nationals whose passports had expired were given emergency travel documents after serving their sentences.
