As the 47th president of the United States, Donald Trump, began his second term on Monday, Pakistan’s senior leadership welcomed him and said they hoped the two nations would strengthen their bilateral ties under the new US government.
Several prominent figures from around the world attended Trump’s inauguration ceremony today in the US Capitol’s Rotunda, where the 78-year-old took the oath of office after his vice president, JD Vance. Trump is the first US president since the 19th century to win a second term after losing the White House.
“My warmest congratulations to Real Donald Trump on his assumption of office as the forty-seventh President of the United States of America,” wrote Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a post on X. I’m excited to collaborate with him.
