ISLAMABAD: According to The News on Wednesday, the Supreme Court dismissed Additional Registrar (Judicial) Nazar Abbas for a major oversight including poor case management in assigning cases to the incorrect top court bench.
A challenge to the provisions of the Custom Act 1969 was raised in CPLA Nos. 836-K to 887-K, 951-K, 1056-K of 2020, 741-K to 743-K of 2021, and 165-K of 2022. These cases were supposed to be heard by the constitutional bench, but they were inadvertently heard by a regular bench.
According to a news release from the Public Relations Department of the top court, the error resulted in the parties and the institution wasting time and money.
The registrar has also been instructed by the SC to investigate the situation.
