SALEMPURA: Daler Singh arrived in the US last month without any documentation, costing him $45,000 and six months. He was taken back to his home country of India on a military plane within three weeks of his arrival, with his wrists and legs bound the entire time.
In a widely reported transfer on Wednesday, Singh, 37, was one of 104 Indians deported by US officials. This fulfills a major election pledge made by President Donald Trump, but it is a humiliation for India, a close ally whose Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Washington next week.
“All of my life’s profits have been lost. At his house in the Punjab state village of Salempura, which borders Pakistan, Singh remarked, “My dreams are shattered.”
“No one ought to purchase anything illegally.”
