Over the weekend, portions of the southeast United States were soaked by heavy rains that flooded homes and roadways, resulting in at least ten fatalities.
Following the declaration of an emergency disaster, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear reported that nine people had perished in his state.
He added on Sunday that approximately 1,000 people who were trapped in flood waters needed to be rescued.
The BBC’s John Hutchinson forecaster said that the same regions could now experience colder but drier weather, along with the possibility of snow, ice, and major disruption.
The other weekend death occurred in Georgia, where an uprooted tree smashed into a man’s house while he was resting in bed.
