KARACHI: In response to the recent surge in traffic accidents in the port city, Commissioner Karachi Syed Hassan Naqvi has taken a historic step by requiring the installation of cameras and trackers in heavy traffic vehicles (HTVs).
Following successful negotiations with Commissioner Karachi, goods transporters put off their strike, which had a significant impact on port operations and city trade. This led to the decision.
The commissioner’s requirement that all HTVs, including dumpers, water tankers, and oil tankers, install three cameras was a significant result of the negotiations.
One camera will be installed on the front bonnet, one at the back, and one inside the car, according to Imdad Naqvi, a leader of the goods transporters association.
