ISLAMABAD Following the government’s announcement of the widespread cancellation of residency permits, the interior ministry revealed on Tuesday that over 100,000 Afghans have fled Pakistan in the last three weeks.
On April 1, the Islamabad government began its mass eviction effort.
The expulsions, according to analysts, are intended to put pressure on the Taliban leaders in neighboring Afghanistan, whom Islamabad accuses of being responsible for an increase in border attacks.
AFP was informed by the interior ministry that “100,529 Afghans have left in April”.
