On Thursday, the bodies of six Pakistani nationals who perished in a boat accident off the Libyan coast of Zawiya city arrived in Islamabad.
The return was made easier by the Pakistani government after the Pakistani mission in Libya’s capital, Tripoli, finished the necessary formalities.
The bodies of 16 Pakistanis were discovered when a boat carrying about 65 people sank close to the port of Marsa Dela, northwest of Zawiya City, Libya. The repatriated victims were part of the group.
Thirty-seven Pakistanis, meanwhile, survived the disaster.
When the remains arrived, they were given to Minister of Housing and Works Riaz Hussain Pirzada, who made sure that the right preparations were made for their return to their hometowns.
