Senior political leaders from a range of parties were briefed on national security by Information Minister Ataullah Tarar and Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the attack on tourists in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
During the in-camera briefing at the state TV headquarters in Islamabad, Lt Gen Chaudhry issued a warning: “The armed forces are fully prepared to deliver a befitting response if aggression is imposed on Pakistan.”
Since the April 22 attack on tourists in the picturesque resort town of Pahalgam in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which claimed at least 26 lives, tensions between the two nuclear-armed neighbors have increased.
