LONDON: Cyberattacks have severely damaged some of the largest shops in Britain. For example, Marks & Spencer (M&S) lost £700 million in value in a single week and is currently unable to process online orders.
Following a significant intrusion last week, grocery retailer the Co-op Group said that hackers had stolen customer data, forcing M&S to enter a second week without being able to accept online purchases on Friday.
Since the hack was made public last week, M&S’s stock market value has dropped by about £700 million ($930 million). The government’s National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) called the news that the Co-op and London department store Harrods have also experienced attacks in recent days a “wake-up call.”
