ISLAMABAD: According to The News on Saturday, a subcommittee tasked with administrative reforms has suggested establishing the Islamabad Capital Territory Government based on the New Delhi model.
The committee chaired by Barrister Zafarullah made the recommendation in its interim report that “representative government and democratic control be established in Islamabad.” The Islamabad government should be given more authority from the Federation.
The report recommended that institutions be established in a coordinated fashion rather than as dispersed departments. The paper stated that the Federation should establish an appropriate administrative structure based on the Gilgit-Baltistan province administration as a model.
To finalize its suggestions, the subcommittee will convene the following week.
