On Saturday morning, a 5.3-magnitude earthquake caused tremors that were felt throughout the tribal areas, Islamabad, Attock, and portions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
There have been no immediate reports of damage or casualties thus far. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reports that the earthquake occurred at 10:08 a.m. PST.
Its epicentre was 230 kilometers below the surface in Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region. Latitude 36.63 N and longitude 71.13 E were the recorded coordinates.
Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, Nowshera, Swabi, Attock, and North Waziristan were among the places where seismic activity was detected.
Notable tremors were observed by locals in these and nearby locations.
