ISLAMABAD/NEW DELHI: After a military action against India earlier in the day, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif announced on Saturday that no meeting of the highest military and civilian body in charge of the nation’s nuclear arsenal had been planned.
“This thing that you have spoken about (nuclear option) is present, but let’s not talk about it — we should treat it as a very distant possibility, we shouldn’t even discuss it in the immediate context,” Asif said to Geo News.
“I believe the temperature will drop before we reach that threshold. The National Command Authority has not had a meeting and has no plans to do so.
Dozens of people have been killed on both sides in the most intense conflict between the nuclear-armed adversaries since 1999.
