At today’s opening ceremony of the Cannes Film Festival, Leonardo DiCaprio is scheduled to present the esteemed prize to Hollywood icon Robert De Niro.
Variety reports that at the largest film festival, the 50-year-old will present Robert with the “Palme d’Or for lifetime achievement” prize.
“I have such close feelings for Festival de Cannes,” Robert told the site when the accolade was announced.
Cannes unites writers, filmmakers, fans, and friends, especially at a time when so much in the world is tearing us apart. “It feels like home,” the 81-year-old actor continued.
For those who are unaware, Robert and Leonardo first appeared together on screen in the 1993 film This Boy’s Life. They then reteamed for Killers of the Flower Moon.
