To honor the brave armed forces and the tenacious people of Pakistan, as well as to remember the momentous victory of Marka-e-Haq, Youm-e-Tashakur, or Thanksgiving Day, is being celebrated nationwide today.
In mosques around the country, the day started with special prayers and the recitation of the Holy Quran. To commemorate the event, a 21-gun salute was held in the province capitals while a 31-gun salute was presented in the federal capital.
The mausoleums of Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah will host rituals for the change of guard. Both the federal and provincial capitals will host flag-hoisting rituals.
Yadgaar-e-Shuhada and the families of the Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos martyrs will both receive floral wreaths.
