Shah Mahmood Qureshi, a senior member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was taken to a hospital early on Saturday morning from Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore after he complained of heart trouble, according to his attorney.
According to his attorney, Qureshi had chest pains after the Fajr prayer. Jail officials then took him to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) for additional testing and care.
The jail administration has informed Qureshi’s family of his condition and transfer. His illness’s type and severity have not yet been made public.
Since his arrest in relation to the May 9, 2023 crimes, Qureshi, a former foreign minister, has been detained at Kot Lakhpat Jail. He was arrested after PTI founder Imran Khan’s incarceration caused nationwide protests.
