Some of President Trump’s most ardent followers have criticized the United States for accepting a plane from Qatar that was meant for the Air Force One fleet.
“The secretary of defense has accepted a Boeing 747 from Qatar in accordance with all federal rules and regulations,” said Sean Parnell, the chief spokesperson for the Pentagon, via statement on Wednesday.
Before the aircraft may be utilized as a member of Air Force One, the president’s official aircraft, it must undergo modifications.
Although the White House maintains that the gift is lawful, there was a great deal of controversy around the transfer’s announcement a week ago.
