LONDON: According to data released by the Home Office, Pakistanis were the most common nationality among asylum seekers in the UK in 2024–2025.
According to the Home Office, 11,048 people, or 10.1% of all asylum seekers in the previous year, were Pakistanis.
In the year ending March 2025, 109,343 asylum applications were filed, the most for any 12-month period since the start of current records in 2001. According to Home Office estimates, the total is up 17% from 93,150 in the year ended March 2024.
Pakistan was the third most common nationality (7.5% of the total) in 2023–2024, and 7,003 asylum applications were made during that year.
