According to regulator Ofgem, many customers may find better value by moving to a fixed plan, even though an average gas and electricity bill will drop by £11 per month starting in July.
It stated that comparing prices might result in a £200 yearly savings, although the decline this summer will not help those on a fixed plan.
Although rates are not anticipated to change considerably later this year, the lower bills will start to appear during the warmest season of the year, when energy demand is lowest.
The regulator’s price cap, which affects 21 million customers in England, Scotland, and Wales on variable tariffs, establishes a maximum amount that suppliers can charge for each unit of energy every three months.
