KARACHI: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported on Saturday that a depression that is currently about 1,058 kilometers southeast of Karachi has grown from a low-pressure system in the Arabian Sea.
The Met Office predicts that the depression will shift to the east. Officials have affirmed, meanwhile, that no Pakistani coastline region is at present in danger.
Once the system lands near the Indian coast, it is expected to start to weaken.
This outcome is especially welcome since there were earlier concerns that this system might cause a heatwave to engulf Sindh, including Karachi.
The chance of a heatwave has decreased as the depression has weakened as anticipated.
