Strong winds and a lot of rain fell on Saturday in Islamabad and Rawalpindi, providing much-needed respite from the current heat wave.
Hailstorms accompanied the rain in several parts of Islamabad, including as Aabpara, where rainwater seeped into multiple homes, causing problems for the locals.
The capital was surrounded by dark clouds before the weather changed, bringing with it strong gusts and a sudden drop in temperature. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that the rainfall in Rawalpindi was 10 mm in Golra, 29 mm in Shamsabad, and 30 mm at PMD.
Water and sanitation agency (Wasa) officials attested to the fact that water flow in Nullah Lai continued to be typical. As a precaution, personnel with equipment were stationed in low-lying regions. When water began to accumulate on the roadways in Islamabad, police stepped in to help motorists.
