According to The News, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that Operation Sindoor is “not yet over” has heightened regional rhetoric and rekindled domestic political tensions.
In reference to previous military operations generally understood to be the 2016 Uri surgical strikes, the 2019 Balakot airstrikes, and the most recent Operation Sindoor, which was launched on May 7, the Indian prime minister told Pakistan during a rally in West Bengal on Thursday that the nation “should understand that we have entered your house and killed you three times.”
He said that Indian forces destroyed terror infrastructure across the Line of Control in an operation that “Pakistan never thought of,” portraying Operation Sindoor as a national mission supported by “140 crore Indians.”
