As the wealthiest man in the world concludes his tumultuous tenure as the government’s greatest cost-cutter, US President Donald Trump gives Elon Musk a lavish farewell in the Oval Office on Friday.
Trump will try to spin Musk’s four-month departure from the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) in a joint press conference with Musk scheduled for 1:30 p.m. local time.
Despite the South African tech mogul returning to his Space X and Tesla businesses, Trump, 78, lauded the “terrific” Musk on Thursday and emphasized that his influence would endure.
On his Truth Social network, Trump stated, “This will be his last day, but not really, because he will, always, be with us, helping all the way.”
