Rahul Gandhi, a Congress leader, was charged by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) with committing an act that is “no less than treason” after he called Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy a “surrender” in the wake of Operation Sindoor, according to Indian media.
Gandhi’s comments, according to BJP President JP Nadda, were an insult to the Indian military and akin to repeating propaganda from Pakistan. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday that “…calling the unmatched valour and courage of the Indian Army a’surrender’ is not only unfortunate but also a grave insult to the Indian Army, the nation, and 140 crore Indians.”
“This is treasonous,” Nadda continued. “You, your party, and your leaders may have given up because this is your history, Rahul Gandhi, but Bharat.”
