TEHRAN: Tehran said Saturday that Washington’s move represented a “racist mentality” and condemned the US travel restriction for Iranians and people of 11 other nations, primarily in the Middle East and Africa.
Following a firebomb attack at a pro-Israel demonstration in Colorado, US President Donald Trump issued an executive order on Wednesday that reinstates broad limitations that are similar to his first-term travel ban. The move was justified on the basis of national security.
The measure, which goes into effect on June 9, was described as “a clear sign of the dominance of a supremacist and racist mentality among American policymakers” by Alireza Hashemi-Raja, director general for the affairs of Iranians abroad in the foreign ministry.
