The first Congo fever death of the year was reported by the Sindh health department, as a patient in Karachi died a day after receiving a diagnosis.
According to a statement released on Wednesday by the province health ministry’s media coordinator, the 42-year-old man, who lived in Karachi’s Malir neighborhood, tested positive for Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) on June 16 and died the following day.
On June 16, medical officials verified that the patient’s test results were positive. On June 17, he passed away from the sickness.
This is the province’s first CCHF case to be formally recorded in 2025. The public has been encouraged to exercise caution, especially while handling cattle, and the health department is keeping an eye on the issue.
