Kew and Heathrow in London recorded a temperature of 32.2°C, which was higher than the previous 2025 record of 29.4°C set in Suffolk on June 13.
Thursday saw temperatures above 27C for the third consecutive day, making Suffolk the first location in the UK to formally enter a heatwave.
The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) cautioned that there will likely be more demands on health and social care services, thus amber heat health alerts are in effect throughout the entire country of England until 9:00 BST on Monday.
On Saturday, the heat is predicted to increase to a high of 33C, with the highest temperatures occurring in central and eastern England.
Temperatures might reach “tropical nights” in certain parts of the nation during the weekend.
