In an attempt to improve readiness for the next monsoon season, Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Punjab Director General Irfan Kathia paid a visit to the Meteorological Department’s headquarters in Lahore on Tuesday.
Zaheer Baig, the director of the PDMA, and several senior personnel followed him. Chief Meteorologist Zaheer Babar provided a thorough briefing on the Meteorological Department’s operations and the anticipated weather patterns for this year during the visit.
The Met Office estimates that this year’s monsoon rains will be 25% more than usual, with August probably seeing the most precipitation and cloud cover.
