In a time of escalating international tensions, recently appointed NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte has vehemently defended the necessity for increased defense spending and reaffirmed his support for US President Donald Trump’s recent military assault on Iran, referring to it as a “decisive action.”
Citing ongoing Russian threats and China’s expanding military buildup, Rutte emphasized the significance of bolstering collective defense spending in remarks ahead of a NATO summit in The Hague on Wednesday.
It’s critical that we increase our spending because of the long-term threat posed by Russia, the significant military buildup in China, and the fact that North Korea, China, and Iran are all backing the war effort in Ukraine. Therefore, that will be the top priority for today’s agenda.
